A little more than ten years ago I began writing a series of articles on topics related to teaching and playing the saxophone. As the topics grew more clear and focused, my objective shifted from writing individual articles to publishing a book. Saxophone Master Classes was first published in the summer of 1998 and a second, revised edition was released in 2003.
Pedagogy is a living thing and as soon as one book or article is written, the pedagogy has already moved beyond it. The true usefulness of this blog format is that it builds upon itself; takes on a life of its own; facilitates a dialog and creates a resource of varied and differing ideas and opinions.
